Intro to Scrambling Courses

Move beyond the footpaths and discover the more adventurous side of the mountains. Basic scrambling sits between walking and climbing, taking you onto rocky ridges, gullies and steeper terrain where confident movement and good route choices become increasingly important.

This course is designed to help you develop the skills and confidence to enjoy Grade 1 scrambling independently, without the use of ropes.

What to Expect

Why choose this course?

Experienced, Professional Instruction
Learn from experienced mountaineering instructors with extensive experience on UK mountain terrain. We'll help you develop practical mountain skills and good judgement that you can take with you long after the course.

Tailored to Your Experience
Whether you've never scrambled before or have some experience and want to build your confidence, we'll adapt the day to suit you. The aim is to help you understand your own limits and make good decisions in varied terrain.

Learn on Real Mountain Terrain
We'll spend the day moving through genuine scrambling terrain, putting techniques into practice as you go. You'll learn how to choose a route, move efficiently and deal with changing terrain and conditions.

Scrambling can feel exposed or intimidating when you're new to it. We'll provide calm, practical coaching and help you develop the judgement to know when to keep going, when to change your route and when to turn around.
